The Bonnie and Taylor Sims Band
Thursday Night Live series opens
On May 30, the Bonnie and Taylor Sims Band opens the free Thursday Night Live music series in Old Town Fort Collins. Bonnie and Taylor Sims are a hard-working, longtime power couple in the Colorado country-rock scene (see our 2019 profile of their other group, Bonnie and the Clydes).
The second show, on June 6, is Denver cumbia rock band Ritmo Cascabel. Shows continue through Aug. 1.
Grammy-winning reggae legend Burning Spear opens the summer concert series next Wednesday at the Vilar Performing Arts Center. The series continues with Mipso on June 13, and also includes country legend Tanya Tucker, magician Adam Trent, comedian Tom Papa, and Southern rock band Blackberry Smoke.
Destination of the week: Sunflower Farm
Sunflower Farm in Longmont launches its Wednesday evening concert series tonight with string trio Salome Songbird, followed by Shuck Wagon next Wednesday. Sunflower Farm is an educational demonstration farm, teaching sustainability, organic farming practices and more. The 5:30 p.m. concerts cost $27, and food trucks and non-alcoholic drinks are available.
Taste of the week: Dry Land Distillers
Keep the music playing in Longmont at the Dry Land Music Series, at 7 p.m. on select Wednesdays at Dry Land Distillers.
Dry Land opened in 2018 with a custom Colorado-made still in a 600-foot space, making an heirloom wheat whiskey and a cactus spirit. Their third flagship spirit is a gin made with all native Colorado ingredients.
Save the date: Dacono Music & Spirits Festival
The small northern Colorado town of Dacono hosts a libations and music festival, with spirits vendors and contests, and live music by headliner The War and Treaty. Chris Daniels & the Kings, Izcalli, Heart of Zeppelin and other local favorites also will play.
As always, please send us your events and announcements. We’re happy to share them. And enjoy your Colorado craft libations responsibly.
