Cocktail recipes from an award-winning Colorado distillery

From Denver roots to a Steamboat campus, Mythology is elevating its cocktail menu

It’s been six years since three friends came together to open one thriving spirit house.

Mythology Distillery first opened its doors in Denver’s Lower Highlands in 2018. But strong ties to Steamboat Springs drove founder Scott Yeates and company to consider space in the state’s northwestern ski town.

Jump ahead to summer 2023 and the small distillery had moved its operations to its Steamboat campus with a bar, restaurant, and outdoor gardens for guests. From there, the crew continues to produce whiskey, gin, vodka and a few other beverages used in their cocktail menu. Here are two to concoct at home.


The Mythology Old Fashioned

2 oz Hell Bear American Whiskey
½ oz turbo syrup
2 dash aromatic bitters + 2 dash orange bitters

Combine all ingredients in a mixing glass. Add ice, stir to chill. Strain in a rocks glass over a large cube. Garnish with an expressed orange peel.


Pomegranate Gin Fizz

2 oz Needle Pig Gin
1 oz pomegranate juice
½ oz simple syrup
¾ oz lemon juice
1 oz egg whites

Dry shake all ingredients, add ice, shake and double strain into a Nic & Nora. Top with soda.
