Feliz Dia De Los Muertos. And we hope you have a fun second Hallo-weekend. Seriously, the weather was a real buzzkill last weekend, so we can enjoy some postponed parties and events. Don’t put away the costumes yet!
Dia de Los Muertos
Stodgy Brewing Co. in Fort Collins hosts a traditional Day of the Dead event starting at 5 p.m. today, with a community altar and a special-edition spiced stout. Patrons can bring images of deceased loved ones, food samples or marigolds to place on the altar. La Campechana food truck also will have a special menu from 4 to 8 p.m.
Cerveceria Colorado will host a fundraiser and sugar skull decorating event from 5 to 9 p.m. tomorrow, with proceeds benefiting the Chicano Humanities & Arts Council. Tickets are required to decorate sugar skulls, which will begin at 6 p.m.
Halloween is back from the dead
Here are a couple of postponed Halloween events:
Bristol Brewing Co. in Colorado Springs hosts a free screening of “Hocus Pocus” at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, with snacks and spiked cider.
The Halloween goat cuddle event at Fiction Brewing Co. in Denver was rescheduled for 2 to 4 p.m. this Saturday, and the weather forecast looks a lot better for snuggling baby goats and admiring their costumes.
Similarly, Halloween goat yoga at Goat Patch Brewing Co. in Colorado Springs was moved to 10 a.m. Sunday.
RiNo bar hop and makers’ market
Hop between RiNo bars and start the holiday shopping with booths from 40 local makers of art, jewelry, decor, soap, candles and more. Vendors will be at Deep Roots Winery, Bierstadt Lagerhaus, 14er Brewing and Improper City from 1 to 6 p.m. Saturday.
For 15 years, Upslope Brewing has been cranking out the now-ubiquitous beer in its iconic Flatirons-festooned cans. The Boulder brewery will mark its anniversary with two days of events. The kickoff runs from 5 to 9 p.m. tomorrow at the Lee Hill taproom, with barrel tasting, an anniversary toast, and a meet-and-greet / Q&A with the Upslope founders. Anniversary glasses and crowlers also will be available.
The main event is a patio party and Rollin’ Bones BBQ pig roast from 4:30 to 9:30 p.m. Friday at the Flatiron Park Brewery. The event also includes live music, local vendors, a silent disco, yard games and more than 50 available beers. GA tickets cost $25.
Jagged Mountain Brewery in downtown Denver is a decade old. The brewery will celebrate its 10th anniversary on Saturday with beer releases, including brews aged in barrels from Laws Whiskey, Talnua Distillery and Denver Distillery. The event also includes food trucks, new merch and more.
Jagged Mountain also hosts a chili cook-off at 1 p.m. Sunday to benefit the Alliance Foundation, which helps improve the lives of women and children.
Appropriately, Cerebral Brewing celebrates its eighth anniversary with a cerebral and silly event. The Denver taproom will host its annual egg drop competition at noon Sunday. Supplies are first-come, first-serve. Contestants have two hours to craft a creation that will protect an egg from a long fall from the taproom roof. Win a prize if the egg survives the fall.
Also, Cerebral’s Aurora taproom hosts a pastry pairing with Banh & Butter Bakery Cafe next Thursday, Nov. 9. Four sweet treats will be paired with four new anniversary beers.
Denver’s Public Offering Brewing hosts its first anniversary party all day Saturday, with live music from The One and Only Jon Ham, and Irregular Goats. Food trucks include True Love Tacos, Sweet Cow Ice Cream. There will also be merch and glassware giveaways, multiple beer releases, caricature drawings and more.
Breckenridge Ski Resort will open for the season next Wednesday, but Breckenridge Brewery will celebrate early with an opening day party (for the season, not necessarily the resort) at 5 p.m. Friday at the Monkey Barrel in Denver. The first 100 guests get a free Funslinger Lager, and all guests have a chance to win the 2023 Artist Series Never Summer snowboard. The event also includes free ski and snowboard waxing, games and prizes.
Learn how to build a living ecosystem in a terrarium class, which runs from 6 to 8 p.m. next Tuesday, Nov. 7, at Denver’s Station 26 Brewing Co. The fee is $50, including one medium glass vessel with a cork top, substrate material, two 2-inch terrarium plants of your choice, decor items like living moss, sand, stones and crystals (as well as one free beer).
The class is taught by Austin Colter of The Terrorium Shop, who builds and maintains the store’s unique terrarium vessels.
The Heart Distillery and High Hops Brewery in Windsor (one-stop shopping for beer, spirits, plants and gardening supplies) will host both a comedy showcase and a craft class this weekend. The 21-plus comedy night starts at 7:30 Friday in the indoor beer garden, and doors open at 7.
“Mel & Kate Create” will host an ornament crafting class at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, using beer and cocktail cans. Tickets cost $30, including all crafting materials for three ornaments, plus one beer or cocktail.
Holly Hoops, certified herbalist and owner of Spirit of the Herbs Apothecary, will teach a class on making your own elderberry syrup and fire cider for immunity and health. The class is at 4 p.m. Sunday at Over Yonder Brewing in Golden, and each $50 ticket also includes one full OYB pour. Click here for tickets.
Win a Stanley stein and discount beers
Veterans can buy a beer at Red Leg Brewing Co. in Colorado Springs before Nov. 9 and enter to win a personalized and engraved Stanley stein, along with a year of $5 Red Leg pours.
Participants must be 21-plus veterans, and the winner will be announced on Nov. 11.
As always, please send us your events and announcements. We’re happy to share them. And enjoy your Colorado craft libations responsibly.
