The best Halloween bars around Denver

Get ghoulish at these nightspots decked out for the spooky season

Slashers Denver

Every night is Halloween at Slashers Denver on East Colfax Avenue. The horror-themed bar shows scary movies and is full of creepy decor and moody lighting. They also just added the Vampire Lounge off the patio.

In October, Slashers is far from the only spot with creepy cocktails and decor of the damned. Here are some other bars and restaurants getting into the Halloween spirit(s).

Creature Creature Double Feature

The women behind The Electric Cure in Edgewater run an “unholy Trinity of bars” that also includes the Honor Farm, a “haunted spirit house,” and its upstairs sister, Hell or High Water Tiki. But the Edgewater location is taking the scares to the next level with the “Creature Creature Double Feature” cocktail and mocktail menu all month. Follow the Facebook page for events and themed nights celebrating cult classic creatures through October.

Spirits Halloween

The Spirits pop-up bar wants to be very clear that it is not affiliated with that other Spirit pop-up. “We sell cocktails, not costumes,” announces the website. The cocktail joint has taken over Con Safos, the expansive bar and club at 20th and Blake in Denver. The pop-up will host weekly events and pour themed cocktails through Nov. 3, and encourages costumes all month long.

Adrift Tiki Bar

Adrift Tiki Bar

Few things seem more terrifying than being adrift on the open ocean with no land in sight and no chance of rescue. But Adrift Tiki bar has more of a “drift along the shoreline with a daiquiri in hand” vibe. The south Broadway bar boasts more than 100 rums and an immersive Polynesian theme. They also added Halloween-themed food, drinks and decor for this month. Nosh on Fire & Brimstone Noodles or drink an Ectoplasm Punch.

The Haunted Mansion

The Mansion on Colfax transforms into the Haunted Mansion Halloween pop-up bar every October. It’s wall-to-wall spooky stuff, plus themed drinks and music. It can be a late-night haunt, or an early event. The BoooooRunch every Saturday and Sunday includes bottomless mimosas and bloody marys.

Poka Muah Ha Ha

The Poka Lola Social Club in Denver’s Dairy Block is embodying the sillier side of Halloween (think “Hocus Pocus,” not “Blair Witch”) with seasonal decor and a limited-time menu that includes cocktails such as The Dark Side of Sesame Street, Polyjuice Potion and Edward Glitterhands, and mocktails including The Nightmare on Blake Street.

Call to Arms Brewing

Call to Arms Brewing

If you have been to Call to Arms Brewing when it is gift-wrapped for Christmas, you know that they don’t mess around with decor. We aren’t talking a sprig of mistletoe here and a Santa hat there. It’s full-on and wonderfully over the top.

And now they are doing the same for Halloween, filling the North Denver bar with Big Spooky Energy, with Halloween movie marathons, a Misfits tribute band concert, scavenger hunts, beer releases and a Halloween party.

The Devil’s Drink

A new underworld speakeasy opened in the Highlands just in time for Halloween. The ambience is more Hell than Halloween or, as they call it, “the gateway to a world of secret pleasures and forbidden indulgences.” With cocktails like the Hell Fire and a look not unlike the Red Room from Twin Peaks, it certainly has a Halloween vibe.

Hopefully, these spots can get you in the Halloween spirit early. For specific single events during the weeks leading up to Halloween, check out our weekly events roundup published here every Wednesday. Happy Halloween!
