Here are some stops folks should make before the fair weather gets away

By Thirst Colorado

It’s that time of year when pumpkin beer haters get their jollies while the rest of the world enjoy seasonal spices and fun libations that just seem to taste better when the temperature drops.

Using a collection of press releases, social media posts and word of mouth, we have put together a few ideas on where to go and what to drink this fall season.

Here we go!

- The Colorado Brewers Guild offered a list of breweries producing fresh-hop beers. The taste is unusual – but in a good way for hop-lovers. Check them out: Bristol BrewingBruz Beers; Call to Arms; Capitol Creek BreweryElevation Beer Co.; FlyteCo BrewingGreen Mountain Beer Co.; Holidaily BrewingJagged MountainJoyride BrewingLittle Machine BeerLocavore Beer WorksMoonlight Pizza & BrewpubOdell Brewing Co.; Strange Craft Beer Co.; Strong House Brewery; and Tivoli Brewing Co.

- The Loveland Downtown District is back with its Downtown Loveland Beer Week, which runs Oct. 12-18. Participants include: Big Thompson BreweryCrow Hop Brewing CoLoveland AleworksRock Coast Brewery; and Verboten Brewing. The District says look for “brewery tours, limited edition beer releases, special events, tasting specials, social media giveaways and more.”

- Hop Zombie Day at Lone Tree Brewing Co. is always worth checking out. “Zombie Day is always a party with delicious beer poured by un-dead bartenders,” the brewery reports. Grab a pint or take some home in 12-ounce Zombie cans, 6-packs or by the case. The 9-percent ABV imperial red will knock your hops off.

- At Mighty River Brewing Co. in Windsor, the beer is flowing in the form of
Autumn River Pumpkin Ale; Riverfest Marzen German Lager; and a Cutbow Kolsch. Of course, there are others to try if the pumpkins and Marzens aren’t to your taste.

- Stop into Comrade Brewing Co. to snag a 2020 GABF glass filled with Hunt for Red Oktoberfest, a great tasting Marzen that hits perfectly at 6.3-percent ABV. Named the 2019 Small Brewer of the Year by the Brewers Association, Comrade is known for its award-winning IPAs, so if the Marzen leaves your glass half full, order the Superpower IPA.

The Denver Beer Co. is celebrating with a Pumpkin Patch & Painting Party all day on Oct. 14. Drink a pumpkin beer and get creative with stencils, paint supplies, and a variety of pumpkins to put a face on that only a mother would love. The Denver and Arvada locations will both offer up the painting party.

Oskar Blues Brewery always comes through with seasonal favorites that will find a home on most palates. Slow Chill Dunkel (5 percent ABV), will join the ever-popular Ten FIDY (10.5 percent ABV) and Death By Coconut Irish Porter (6.5 percent ABV) at their breweries and on shelves all over the state (and nation, if you’re traveling).

Fossil Craft Beer Co. is known for some of its crazy creations that just happen to taste fantastic, so if you get down to Colorado Springs, be sure to try a variety of beers (tasters, of course!!). Topping off the season is the German-style Doppelbock. Also, checkout the Unfriended Part 2 triple IPA collab the brewery did with cross-towners Brass Brewing.
