Charity Fundraisers in Windsor Generate $35,000

More than $35,000 was raised in one week and divvied up to multiple charitable causes, and High Hops Brewery and The Heart Distillery are at the heart of it all.

High Hops hosted two separate events raising money for both local and international causes. Brews and Bites for Windsor hosted over 170 guests for a craft beer and food pairing dinner.

The money raised from Brews and Bites went toward The Windsor Community Foundation to fund scholarships for Windsor High School students, as well as grants to local nonprofit organizations.

To launch the fundraiser, Okole Maluna, The Hearth, Chimney Park Bistro, Pelican Lakes and Pudgie Bear Baking prepared a gourmet five-course meal. Each of the courses from the Windsor restaurants was paired with beer from High Hops Brewery, Mash Lab Brewing and G5 Brew Pub. Brews and Bites raised over $30,000 from the event.

Four days after the Brews and Bites fundraiser, High Hops Brewery and The Heart Distillery hosted a Fundraiser Drag Show that raised nearly $5,000 for BuildOn Colorado. The nonprofit organization helps fund the construction of schools in the world’s most impoverished countries. BuildOn Colorado currently raises money under the stewardship of Rachel Weakland, with plans to build a school in Malawi, Africa. Under Weakland’s direction, BuildOn Colorado raised the funds for nearly half of the school so far.

Drag queens strutted their stuff at the evening fundraiser where more than 150 attendees bid on items in a silent auction comprised of locally-made goods and services.

After the success of the fundraisers, a High Hops spokesman said he is looking forward to future nights of fun and fundraisers.
