The Belgian-inspired brewery just let the world know they are doing some things right on Main Street in the small Boulder County town.

12Degree also won a gold medal for its Treachery in the Belgian-Style Pale Strong Ale category and a bronze for its Soleil Saison in the French & Belgian-Style Saison category, according to results from the Brewers Association in Boulder.

The 2016 World Beer Cup awards were presented at the conclusion of Craft Brewers Conference & BrewExpo America in Philadelphia. “Brewing has no boundaries or borders,” said Brewers Association founder Charlie Papazian in a report from the group. “The World Beer Cup recognizes the very best in the global community of brewers—their innovation, creativity and the craft of beer and brewing.”

The World Beer Cup had 6,596 beers from 1,907 breweries representing 55 countries—a 38.5 percent increase in entries from the 2014 World Beer Cup, which had 4,754, the Brewers Association said. The entries were judged by an international panel of 253 judges from 31 countries. “Judges awarded 287 out of 288 total possible awards, reflecting the chance for one gold, one silver and one bronze award in each of 96 beer style categories,” the report said. “A gold award was not presented in the Fresh or Wet Hop Ale category.”

The results also showed Colorado’s brewers couldn’t be denied in the Belgian-Style Pale Strong Ale category. With 48 entries, Colorado swept all three awards. 12Degree took the gold with its Treachery; Gemini Beer Co., in Westminster took silver with its Sanctuary Golden Strong Ale and Funkwerks in Fort Collins took bronze with Deceit.
And 12Degree wasn’t the only Louisville brewery to score: Gravity Brewing took silver with its Coal Kriek in the Belgian-Style Fruit Beer category.
Just up the highway, Upslope Brewing Co. won bronze for its Brown Ale in the American Brown Ale category and Bootstrap Brewing took bronze for its Wreak Havoc in the Imperial Red Ale grouping.
